Just heard a new rule that the board agreed to in the last few days. They have decided that if a car gets its front or rear bumpers knocked off or if the side nerf bars get knocked off that the car can continue to race. OK, i get the front bumper. It is not that big of deal, but the nerf bars missing? That is a big deal for safety in open wheel racing. A bigger deal is the rear bumper, that is a big safety deal. I don't want to be on the track at the same time as another car that is missing its rear bumper. It wouldnt take much of an impact to blow fuel all over everyone.
Anyone else thinks this is a bad idea?
Maybe I heard the rumor wrong. Crrect me if you know.

Probably was. That was how it was called. This is a new interpretation of this rule. I would expect this to be clarified at drivers meeting this week.

Admin, I wasn't told of any such rules. Rodney and I talked quite a bit last night and he didn't mention anything about it. I would think that if this rule had been given to Rodney to enforce, he would have mentioned it at some point. We had just discussed this very issue a couple weeks ago about what bumpers/nerfs need to be on the car to be able to allow them to run. I agree, no front bumper is fine (as long as you start the race with it), but the nerfs and rear bumper need to stay on the car to continue to race. JMO.

common sense guys, Brett i will agree with you. no nerf bars or tail tank bumper, please leave the track for your, and the safty of others.....its not rocket science....remember, we still dont require bladders in fuel tanks.....like most other sanctioning bodies, we just recommend them:>
