It would be a shame if the board didn't do the right thing and reschedule tonight's race for next weekend. The points championships should not be decided on a cancellation. Things got really exciting after last night and was going to be a great finish. Those racers who support this track every week deserve the right to fight it out. Plus there are a ton of people who look for ward to the mechanics race and powder puff race. It could even be a no pay night.

I see that Port City rescheduled theres. Why can't we get our race rescheduled?? Does no one else care? Seems like this should be a club decision anyhow.

I'd like to know why it couldn't be done.

I'd be in favor of a reschedule. The track could use the money...I heard a few board members say several times this summer.

It is a disappointment to that a board does not listen to it's membership and fans. I have benn around racing fro many years now and have seen all sides of promoters, owners and volunteer organization. In Volunteer organizations like SS the board has the obligation to do what is in the best interest of the business membership and fans. Whether it boils down to deciding on point championsips or not, most other tracks do there best to make up any scheduled events. I am pretty sure that most of the membership would be in favor of making up this last race.
In my opinion the underlying reason to not make up this reace is disheartening. It seems that there is little consideration given by the board and if that is the case it is coming down to a group that is tired and not willing to put forth the effort that they should to represent there membership. I have been a part of volunteer organizations in my time. I understand the work that goes in bvut you have a commitment to your membership that you will act to the fullest to represent whats in there best interest. If you are tired and don't have the energy to cary out your duties then its time to step a side and let some new energy in. You are not doing yourself or the membership any favors. Please don't take my words as disrespect. I understand that most are over worked and under paid and take time away from there families to do this and for that you are not told thank you enough.
If there are good reasons not to make up last Saturdays race then we should hear what that is. Other wise it just seems like the board doesn't want to put forth the effort and for that in my opinion is shameful.

Just to clarify...the Shaun above is not me.
The topic of making up the last race does have some merit though. I don't know the current financials, but remember hearing that we were cash strapped this summer due to some rain outs at the start of the season. Getting an extra night in could help, expecially if it is a no pay night. Might give some of the Showdown racers a night to try something completely different in preparation for the big show...if they are not in a points race in their respective division. Might give a racer a chance to try his/her car in a different class to prepare for the Showdown, again if they are not in the points chase. I haven't looked at the points scenarios to see if anyone would even potentially benefit, but I imagine there might be a few spots up for grabs still!
Also, the Powder Puff/Mechanics race is always a big favorite amongst the the teams - a reward for some of the family menbers or friends of racers who put up with being at the track every Sat night! Maybe each team with a mechanic/powder puff racer could throw in $20 in a hat going to the winner of the mechanics race and powder puff race respectively...nothing official, just a gentlemen's wager per se.

To Shaun and any one else that wants to talk crap about my family. First of all u and people like u that talk sh*t without having facts are the reason why so many volunteers end up throwing there hands up in the air and saying screw this it's not worth it. I for one am one of there people. I have done my time for many years and put in many many hours at this track. how dare u try to take something away from my son who worked his butt off all year long.... The board not once ever discussed having a make up race and even if they had I have absolutely NO vote and again little do u know my husband has not been on the board for several months. So in no way was the decision made on behalf of my son So before u start talking sh*t on an innocent 7 year old how about u get ur facts straight and if u need any clarification u feel free to call me 660-233-0920. By the way they are looking for volunteers for the banquet so I'm expecting to see ur name on the volunteer list right Shaun? Nikki Knipmeyer
