Who was the infield worker that quit and why? Not sure of the reason yet, but we think it is was Steve Ratliff who quit. He is a top notch guy...all of the infield workers are top notch guys and gals. Thank you for all the hard work infield workers!

First off this is Jarmey, driver of the 76NW car I will not hide my nameI will stand behind what I say in person or on a keyboard. Steve is my brother in law and yes he did quit, the icing on the cake was this past weekend when during the race I had passed the 321 car and was racing toward the leader when the caution came out. The leader at that time was 71s car. While under caution the 71s car broke and had to pull off. Then the tower called down as said that the 321 was the race leader. The track workers disagreed I disagreed and I believe even Chad (321) disagreed, This was a bad call. Then at the restart I was racing with the leader and the 41k was on the outside and in turn 4 coming to the checkers I was turned over the infield berm, right in front of the NEW REFEREE, and no call was made. If you are intrested I have attached the video from the race and you can see that I had passed the 321 for nearly 2 laps prior to caution. And if you want you can view the photos of the turning that happened and if you look in the background you will see Mr. Rodney watching the whole thing about 10 feet away yet no call was made. In the rule book section I par 9 covers rough driving and would have applied to this situation yet the results are no different then expected. Again this was just the icing, Steve has been trying to make the club a better place as many of us have, and he is tired of trying. Nothing will change until the board is turned over and I mean completly, everyone from President to the Track prep person, this place is a amazing ficility and it is getting ran into the ground. The rumor of Hershal getting fired is 2 parts, and again these are only RUMORS of what I heard. 1-He sent Little Knipmeyer (Jr sprints) to the tail on July 13th and soon after that it was called over the radio (track workers wear) that Nikie and Jacob want to talk to you after the race. then he was fired on the following tuesday. 2-He was asking questions about why we are having no pay races and yet giving club money away to local businesses. I am happy to share my opinion on just about any topic any of you would like to discuss but please realize these are only my opinions and carry no weight nothing is going to change unless we as a club come together and make the change. link to video www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TWM9RQsMhY&feature=c4-overview&list=UUtLUUpikJAxANsINZfwvVjg

Hey Jarmey, please tell Steve we said hello and to all the other racers and families. Hershel certainlly didn't want people to think that he quit because that was not the case at all. Hershel has no favorites and loves flagging. He was only wanting to see things done fair and correct and some folks didn't like that. He was going by the rule book, yet he was told to enforce rules that were not in the rule book. Things seemed to change from week to week and he was trying to do his best to do what was right.
He was told when he received the phone call from Dean that there had been too many complaints, the board voted and his services were no longer needed. Totally shocked. You are right that nothing is going to change unless the CLUB comes together. That was another thing that Hershel had started doing was going around and talking to all the drivers, crew, parents, etc. asking them to become members and help changes things, and make things right. I don't think that was looked to kindly upon as well.
He was asking questions that were being asked of him. Why is money being spent on this but not this, why are we so broke there are no pays but they buy this? Where are By-laws, minutes, treasuerer reports, etc. There were all questions that were being asked of him. But because he asked on behalf of everybody asking he got the shaft.
He knew Nickie and Jacob wanted to talk to him and they never once spoke to Hershel but had every opportunity to do so. Nickie walked by him a couple of times. There were plenty of other people that came to talk to him, mainly to say "thanks". We always hang around well after the races are over. If I recall we hung around the pit town until about 2 am that morning.
Ok, enough of that......................sigh......................
SS is a great track it is just time for some major changes. Best of luck to you racing!
