I am looking to gather the email addresses and phone numbers of the parents from the Jr parents from this season. You can email me your info, and send me info on any other parent that you are acquainted with as I'm not sure how many read this site. Also you can forward those parents this post or my direct contact info.
I would like to get all of the parents together on a conf call right after the season while it is fresh on our minds. Then plan to have these calls several times through the offseason as needed. The goal of the calls are to provide a structured forum that we can share ideas as to how to protect our interests of the class and create growth. With a collective effort we can then help the board support the class needs.
As as a group, we might be able to provide feedback to chassis manufacturers that might make our kids safer. As a group we might be able to buy equipment or safety gear in bulk to get discounts - a mini buyers group. We certainly could provide feedback to SSMC and any other track in our area considering running Jr's.
Rodney and Brett are very supportive, as are other influential folks in SSMC. The board would support our efforts if it made the program better, easier to run the class and low hassle. I have Rodney's contact info, but not Brett's. I spoke with Rodney last week asking if he would resume his 10 minute training class next season that we had him do several years ago where he took the kids on the track to explain cones, starting places, hazards, flag meanings, lights, etc. this was successful. Even the more experienced kids benefited from the reminders.
I read on a quarter midget site about a program for new drivers/parents where new folks were assigned an experienced team to help them learn the basics on race night and throughout the week. Perhaps this would be a good idea? I'm certain each of our parents have great ideas on how to improve the racing experience. Together we can leave a positive impact on the class!
This is is the best group of kids and parents we have had in all of the years of our involvement with SSMC. We are headed in a really good direction. Together perhaps we can even make it better.
When you email your contact info, include any thoughts/ideas/complaints that you have so that I can develop an agenda for the first call.
